The Cody-Kilgore Cowboys football team on Friday, August 25, 2023, began their quest for the NSAA Six-Man Championship against the Wallace Wildcats in Wallace. Luckily for the Cowboys, the scoring came early and often.

The first game for the Valentine Badgers was away where they took on the West Holt Huskies. Friday, August 25, 2023, was their season opener which resulted in a 0-18 loss for the Badgers. Scoring by quarters: Valentine - 0, 0, 0, 0, = 0 West Holt - 0, 12, 6, 0 = 18 Lex Larson was a leader in receiving yards with 36. Cinch Miller had 17 rushing yards and 14 tackles. Seth Vavra had a sack. Jordan Bailey had an interception.

The Valentine Cross Country Team hosted their meet at Frederick Peak Golf Course, Thursday, August 24, 2023. The results are as follows: Girls varsity results - Christen Larsen, 28.35; Paige Sprenger, 31:31; Lexi Long, 33:29; and Samantha Sprenger, 36:52.

The Valentine Chamber of Commerce has put together a great line up coming Saturday, September 9! There will be the Chaduza Cook-off, corn hole tournaments, and the Will Carter Band with Born and Bred as their opener.

VALENTINE — The Niobrara National Scenic River, and the Nebraska Writing Project, University of Nebraska Lincoln created an educational experience for high school students that won the 2022 National Park Service Regional Education in Excellence award for the Write the River: Creative Writing Float and Art Experience in Region 3,4,5-Midwest-whichencompasses 13 states. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the profession of education that model excellence through thoughtful engagement of education principles, innovation, and adaptation.

We’ve enjoyed a beautiful summer, weather wise, and with the coming Labor Day weekend - the unofficial end of summer - greets us. But there’s still plenty fun things to do.
