    Two VHS teams competed in the Nebraska Personal Finance Challenge

    On Friday, April 29, 2022, eight students from VHS traveled to UNK to compete at the regional Nebraska Personal Finance Challenge. Two teams of VHS students earned a spot at the western regionals. Nicole Williams, Mataya Morrison, Jack Lancaster, and Gunnar Battershaw placed first at regionals and third in the state.

    Badgers take ninth at O’Neill Invite

    The Valentine Badgers Golf Team traveled to the O’Neill Invitational Thursday, April 21, 2022 and placed ninth out of 16 teams. Individually: Brayden Grubham shot 100; Logan Muirhead and Sean Springer each shot 101; and Ben Butcher shot 126 for a total score of 428..

    Burn Ban notice still in effect for Cherry County

    Cherry County Emergency Management has issued a burn ban that was effective as of April 16, 2022. The ban primarily applies to required permits for open burns such as brush piles, leaves, etc. All burn permits will remain suspended until the burn ban has been lifted.

    Sandhills Area Foundation donates to Miles of Smiles!

    The Sandhills Area Foundation was pleased to present a $1,500 grant to Miles of Smiles, a school based oral health program that was started by the North Central District Health Department in December of 2012. This program serves 35 elementary and middle schools within the nine counties served by NCDHD, which include: Antelope, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Rock, Keya Paha, Knox, Holt and Pierce. Miles of Smiles provides free oral health education, oral screenings, fluoride varnish, dental sealants and homecare supplies. The program costs the NCDHD about $10 per child, and they anticipate serving 750 Cherry County students.

    Results from the West Holt Track and Field invite

    The Badgers attended the 2022 West Holt invite Thursday, April 21, 2022. Individual girls results through 20th place are as follows: 200 Meter Dash - first place, Tacey From, 26.56; fourth place, Alivia Patterson, 27.71; eighth place, Malika Monroe, 28.74.
