Jim Edwards, Commander of the Valentine VFW Post 5239 and Vince Lopez, Commander of the Nebraska VFW District 11 attended the annual Nebraska Department of VFW convention in Kearney, June 11-12, 2022, where they observed the nomination, election, and swearing in of Rex Gallino to the Nebraska Department of Surgeon position, one of five judiciary positions governing the State VFW programs.

Immortalized into the 2022 Nebraska Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame, are three Cherry County cowboys. They were inducted Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Cherry County Fairgrounds.

Atkinson, NE - “Time has just flown by since our last convention in September of 2021. After the convention in Valentine the board decided that we needed to move the convention back to the spring-like it has been since the Sandhills Cattle Association started holding our annual convention and trade show,” organizers said. “This year we started our 83rd annual Convention and trade show on Thursday, May 26, with our 25th annual Golf Classic at the Atkinson-Stuart Country Club. We had another great turnout on this beautiful golf course this year with 40 golfers. The day began with our usual shotgun start at 10:00 a.m., and the teams had a day full of fun on this course.”

The 59th annual Circle C Celebration in Cody was held May 28, 2022, and dawned sunny and bright. After the parade and kids games, the annual Horseshoe Tourney and Rodeo began. Concessions were run by the Cody United Methodist Church.
