The Badger Basketball team was looking for its 7th win of the season, and they did just that when they took control in the first half, leading 41-29 at halftime in the game against the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs.

Madison Gambill is the Sand Painters Art Club Artist of the Month for January 2026. Madison shares her art story: It was 2019 and I was in my ninth semester of college and I was so tired of homework filling up just about every evening of my life. I specifically remember turning to my friend Keegan and saying, “I can’t wait til we graduate and never have to do homework again. I want to find a hobby to get into. I think painting would be cool, I could see myself doing that.”

The Salvation Army Red Kettle collections was over $3,000 as of Sunday, December 21, 2025, said Wendy Murphy. The goal for was set for this year was $5,000, and with $3,800 they’re on their way! Collecting for 2024 was $4,250; in previous years, they’ve collected upwards of $8,000.

Chadron hosted a new, bigger holiday high school basketball tournament the final three days of the Old Year this coming week. Eight girls and eight boys teams participated Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, December 29-31 with a majority of the games taking place in the Chicoine Center at Chadron State College.
