    Garwood receives championship awards

    The Nebraska 4‑H Premier Communication Event (PCE) is a two‑day state‑level competition for youth in Lincoln, NE, designed to showcase communication skills, explore industry issues, and connect with peers across the state. This year was held at the University of Nebraska‑Lincoln on the East Campus on June 16‑ 17, 2026.

    Cherry County Cupcake War and Special Foods results

    There was a total of 13 participants in the Cherry County 4-H Cupcake War and Special Foods Contest that was held June 9, 2026, with Shalee Arendt and Hannah Beel as the judges. Youths between the ages five through 18 participating in cupcake decorating, complete with a creatively designed tablescape.

    Cherry County Fair theme: Uncle Sam, Apple Pie, and County Fair

    The Cherry County Ag Society met Monday, June 8 and voted on a new theme for the 2026 Cherry County Fair. There were four entries from area 4-H youth members. The winning theme is Uncle Sam, Apple Pie, & County Fair by RJ Dean.

    Scenic Niobrara: 35 and going strong

    An enthusiastic bunch turned out to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Niobrara National Scenic River and kick off the summer paddling season. The Friends of the Niobrara and National Park Service staff partnered to host the May 23 event.
