On April 23, 2021, the wonderful journey of Charlsee Ray Eberly’s life was tragically brought to an end. Charlsee’s journey began in Valentine on February 6, 1991, when she was born to Jo Jean Eberly and Joseph Kirk. Charlsee is survived by her mother, Jo Jean Eberly of Miami, OK; grandmother, Wava Jean Eberly of Miami, OK; grandfather, Gary Eberly of Cody; soulmate, Michael Holden Hayslip of Pittsburg, KS and father, Joseph Kirk of Gordon.
Charlsee grew up on ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska. She loved her horses, cats and dogs. Charlsee started barrel racing at a very young age. Charlsee became very competitive in the barrel racing world from the youth divisions to professional competition. Charlsee was a little spitfire that went to every competition with the intention of winning it. She would beat us and take our money with a smile on her face.
Charlsee graduated from Miami High School in 2009. Charlsee was an officer in the National Honor Society in both her junior and senior year. She participated in track and qualified for the State Track meet in both High Jump and Triple Jump her senior year. She then attended Northeastern Oklahoma University where she graduated in 2010 with an Associate’s Degree in Mass Communications. Charlsee then attended the University of Central Oklahoma for one year then transferred to The University of Santa Fe Art and Design. Charlsee graduated from The University of Sante Fe Art and Design in December of 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Moving Image Art. The morning after graduation, she flew to the Cannes Film Festival where she interned. That trip had many challenges that we can look back on and laugh at now (lost phones and missed planes to name a few). During her time in Sante Fe she worked on the films but the highlight was working on Young Guns as a makeup artist. This was something Charlsee was very proud of. Charlsee began working at the Westin Hotel in Snow Mass, CO as a media consultant when she returned. Charlsee worked in some form of media most of her career. She was working at KOAM TV in Pittsburg, KS at the time of her death.
Charlsee was dearly loved by her family and friends. She was a spark in our world and is now a bright star in our sky! We are all blessed to have known her!
A celebration of life was held for Charlsee on April 30, at the home in Miami, OK.
