Curtis Daniel Johnson, Curt, of Douglas, WY, passed away Sunday, August 21, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, WY from a sudden and brief illness. He was 75 years old.
Curt was born October 6, 1946, at Gordon, to Robert Leslie Johnson (Bob) and his wife Marie Doris Hathorn. He was the third of three children. The family ranched in the sandhills area near Merriman for many years. He attended High School at Gordon, and joined the Army National Guard of Nebraska in 1966, he was stationed for a time at Ft. Ord, CA. He married Janice Miller in 1967 and the family moved to Gillette, WY in 1968, then settled in Douglas, WY in 1976 after having lived about four years in Platteville, CO. In 1989 he married Sandra (Grooms) Keller, originally from Valentine. They continued to reside in Douglas.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lois Denison of Evanston, WY.
He leaves behind his wife Sandy of Douglas, his children Tammy Beard of Ft. Collins, CO, and his son Joshua of Douglas, his stepchildren Kari Wlodarczyk of Rapid City, SD, Amy Gibson of Douglas, and Amanda Hernandez and husband Richard of Casper, WY, he leaves one sibling, his brother Jerry Johnson and wife Karen of Alliance; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces.
No formal services will be held, but there will be an informal gathering to remember and honor Curt on Saturday, September 24, 1:00-4:00 p.m., at the Kings Portion Compassion Center, 809 S. 9th Street in Douglas, WY. His ashes will be interred at the Douglas Park Cemetery. Newcomers Funeral Home in Casper will handle the arrangements.
