David Ladely, age 73, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away at home on February 2, 2022.

David was born in Valentine on June 8, 1948, the son of Glen and Martha Leah Ladely. He graduated from Todd County High School in Mission, SD, then was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968. He spent most of his military career in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in ‘69.

David married Patricia Sokol on February 2nd 1968 in Winner, SD. They had four children: Amy, Wade, Wyatt, and Kristi. Dave ranched in various places in the Sandhills and then eventually started driving a truck for R & R Trucking in Lexington and became an owner/operator. While trucking in 1994, David met Dolores Nolda and they have been together ever since. After selling his truck, he went to work for Schaben’s until retiring.

David enjoyed fishing, his man cave, watching Western programs and football. He especially enjoyed being around his family and horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Martha Ladely; son, Wade Ladely; granddaughter, Kiana; nephews, Robert and Ronald Lurz and Kirk Beuster; and sisterin-law, Tink Ladely.

David is survived by Dolores Nolda, his significant other; children, Amy (C.L.) Bellew, of Hershey, Wyatt Ladely (Stephanie DeNaeyer), of Valentine, and Kristi Ladely, of Sioux City, IA; stepchildren, Misty Mantegna, of Bellevue, Bryan (Erica) Nolda and Mandy Nolda (J.D. Songster), of North Platte; his son Wade’s fiancée, Colynn Beaver, of Bridgeport; his brothers, DuWaine (Shirley) Ladely, of Dixon, and Bob (Dianne) Ladely, of Malcom; sisters, Glendine (Jerry) Heinert, of Delmont, SD, and Kathie Lurz (Tom), of Valentine; grandchildren, Kyle, Audrey, Steaven, Kayla, Julius, Justice, Josiah, Sierra, Aowyn and Constance; great-grandson, Landon; and other family.

Services were held Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Odean Colonial Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery.
