Dorothy Marie Paxton was born November 4, 1943 in Valentine, to Charles Albert and Jeannette (Phipps) Paxton. She attended Valentine Public School. Dort worked as a cashier for Walmart for many years and after moving back worked various jobs in the community.
She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a Moose Lodge member. Dort enjoyed playing Canasta, completing puzzles, attending garage sales and spending time with her many friends. She was very friendly and always had a smile for all.
Dort passed away at Cherry County Hospital on April 20, 2021 at age 77.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Jeannette Paxton, sisters Deanna Hookham, and Ruth Hicks, brother Laverne Paxton.
She is survived by son Kevin (Tina) Paxton Rochelle, IL, sister Donna (Butch) Marsh of Valentine, brothers, LeRoy (Sharon) Paxton of Thedford and Frank (Jeannie) Paxton of Montana. Also surviving are grandchildren, Niki (Daniel) Songer; Angel (Ian) Eriks; Kevin James Paxton; Nathan (Vikki) Paxton; 10 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was in charge of arrangements.
