Eldon Dean Haas was born November 24, 1953 to Leland and Gladys (Sharp) Haas in Valentine. He received his education at Valentine Public Schools and Kearney State College and enjoyed all of the sports which led to a career in teaching and coaching. He went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on September 8, 2023 in Omaha.

Eldon knew that God was always with him, but in 2019 he became a “Born Again Christian.” He enjoyed bible study, Christian music and sharing the word of God. His family was always a blessing that God bestowed him with.

He is survived by his sisters Elaine and Joe Novotny and family and Janet and Bryan Hartmann and family; foster son Tim Soltis and wife Jade; many other family of which he loved them all; Sherry Morrow, a dear friend of over 50 years; as well as many friends and acquaintances.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Darrel Eugene Haas, who was always the family’s little angel that has been in Heaven since just after birth. Darrel and Eldon will share a resting spot at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine.

A memorial service for the family and close friends was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday September 19, 2023 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Valentine. Pastor Andrew Utecht, a special friend of Christ and Eldon, proceeded over services.

A memorial fund will be established and gifts may be given in care of the family or the donor’s choice.
