    Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Kalblinger, 91

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Jones) Kalblinger was born in her grandparents’ home in Rosebud, SD on September 1, 1931 to Lawrence Edison and Florence (Knittel) Jones and she was baptized October 4, 1931.

She attended Zion Lutheran grade school and was confirmed March 18, 1945. She attended Todd County High School and graduated as valedictorian May 26, 1949. She then graduated from St. Johns Nursing School May 30, 1952.

Betty and Stan Kalblinger were married in April 1955 and raised three sons. She worked many years at Sandhills General Hospital in Valentine (now Cherry County Hospital). In 1975, she attended the University of North Dakota, became a physician’s assistant June 1, 1976 and then opened a satellite clinic in Mission, SD for and under the supervision of Dr. J.E. Farner. She continued to be employed at the clinic for 42 years until retiring June 1, 2018.

Betty passed away April 17, 2023 in North Platte. She was blessed with three sons: Fred Skaggs of Mud Creek, SD, Gary (Dana) Kalblinger of Valentine and Bruce (Eva) Kalblinger of Cozad; seven grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren who survive her. Also, a sister Loretta Hopkins of Williamstown, NJ; two brothers: Martin Jones of Mission and Larry (RoseAnn) Jones of Littleburg; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stan; parents LE and Florence Jones; three brothersin- law: Charles Hopkins, Bernard Hooper and Clint Kalblinger; and two sisters-in-law: Wilma Hooper and Eunice Jones.

Services were held at Grace Lutheran Church in Valentine with interment at Peace Cemetery in Mission on Friday, April 21, 2023. Holmes Funeral Home of Valentine was entrusted with the arrangements.
