Evelyn Yvonne Perrett Smith was born July 6, 1932 to Harvey and Veronica Breitkreutz on a farm eight miles southwest of Wisner. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Al, Duane, Roland, LeRoy and sisters, Ethel, Betty, Violet, and infant sister, Luella.

Evelyn married Neale E. Perrett November 24, 1951 at the Episcopal Church in Mission, SD. To this union, four children were born.

Evelyn left home at age 13 and worked as a nanny for room and board in order to obtain her beautician’s license. She worked as a beautician for many years in Valentine and Mission. Evelyn was a great cook and prided herself on an immaculate home and beautiful yard. Evelyn was a beautiful woman and took great pride in always looking her best. Being brought up in the post-depression era, Mom knew how to stretch a dollar. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After retiring from Sterling Drug in Kansas, she opened an art gallery in Lindsborg, KS and loved south-western art, enjoying meeting the Native American artists in Arizona and New Mexico.

Evelyn married Richard G. Smith on November 10, 1971. They moved to North Platte, Lindsborg, Kansas, and later to Battlement Mesa, CO Prescott Valley, AZ, and Canon City, CO. Mom loved the mountains! Evelyn and Richard moved back to Valentine in 2017. Evelyn passed away May 10, 2021 in Kearney. Memorial services were held at St John’s Episcopal Church in Valentine Monday, May 17, 2021. Holmes Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.

Evelyn is survived by her loving and devoted husband Richard of Valentine, children Janeal Dominico of Omaha, Joni Rodabaugh of Grand Island, Gregg (Solveig) Perrett and Brian (Michelle) Perrett of Valentine, Laurie Marley and son T.J. Marley of Chino Valley, AZ, Michelle (John) Turyn of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and sisters Sharon Lehman and Rita (Larry) Clark. Heaven gained a beautiful angel.
