Gregory Simon Schubauer was born May 15, 1939 to Maximilian & Martha (Borszich) on the home place in rural Todd County, South Dakota. He passed away November 17, 2021 at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine.
He attended school through the eighth grade and then worked on the family farm. He married Carol (Pierce) on December 27, 1962. To this union, four children were born: Matt, Tracy, Mark and Toni.
Greg worked as a carpenter in and around the Valentine area for many years and his craftsmanship can be seen in numerous houses in the area. He was very talented and creative when it came to building things. If you had something you wanted built, he could build it. If you needed something fixed, he could fix it. His “shop” was not only where he worked & created, it was the location of many Friday night card games. Everyone was welcome and no one was a stranger.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Melvin, Frank, Teddy and Otto and sisters: Ruth Williams and Rose Eileen Bruce.
Greg is survived by his wife, Carol; children: Matt (LeAnn) of Rio Vista, TX, Tracy McCormick (Jim) of Chappell, Mark (Betty) of Valentine and Toni Frank (Wade) of Lincoln, NE; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by a sister, Monica Francke of Valentine.
