Jerry Monnier, 73

Tuesday, May 11, 2021, Jerry Monnier, our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 73. He was surrounded by his family as he took his final breath and assured them “this isn’t good bye, it’s see you later!” He was confident in his salvation and excited to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jerry was born in Kilgore, January 9, 1948 to George and Goldie Monnier.

Jerry was the youngest of eight and early farm life left several lasting traits: rise early, drink black coffee, work hard and DIY. These traits saw him through Vietnam in the U.S. Army. A long career as a machinist and post-retirement Uber driver. He simply could not sleep in or sit at home. We’re immensely grateful that he instilled in us his work ethic, ability to fix stuff and his love for adventure.

On March 27, 1970, Jerry married the love of his life, Donna Krohn. Their 51 year union produced three children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, whom he adored. Their marriage journey took them from Nebraska to Colorado, to Indiana, back to Colorado and finally to Boise, ID.

Mid-summer 1993, Jerry met his second love: motorcycles. The next 28 years found him on two wheels year-round regardless of weather. The highlight of his year was riding the month long Tribute to Fallen Soldiers Memorial Torch Run with his brother, but any excuse to pack the saddlebags and ride for days was welcome.

He is survived by his wife Donna; dachshund Ginger; daughter Kim (Mark) and children, Lauren and Trent; son Andrew (Shayla) their children Nikolas, Karis Jerred, Demeree and Jailynn; daughter Lisa (Eva); siblings Edith (Pete) Peterson, of Kansas City, MO; Mavis (Bob) Goodwin of North Platte; Mert (Anita) Monnier of Casper, WY; great-grandchildren Rolyn and Paisley, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by four brothers: Robert, Richard, Donald, Clifford.

Our family would like to express our immense gratitude to the staff of Boise St. Luke’s ICU. Your loving care of our father will not be forgotten. He died from COVID-19, please consider getting vaccinated.

A memorial service will be held May 29, at Julius Kleiner Park at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tribute to fallen Soldiers in Jerry’s name.
