Kathleen L. Miles, 94

Kathleen Lenore Miles of Thedford was born March 24, 1928 in Fairbury to Matt M. and Rose Dailey Shanley and died December 7, 2022 at the age of 94 at Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway.

Kathleen grew up on the Shanley ranch three miles south of Brownlee. She attended grade school and two years of high school in Brownlee and graduated from Assumption Academy in Chadron in 1946. She also attended Duchesne, a Catholic College for young women, in Omaha.

On November 14,1951, Kathleen married Robert C. Miles at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Brownlee. To this union three children were born, Marian L., Colleen D. and Matthew A. Robert and Kathleen lived on Robert's parents ranch until 1962 when they moved south of Brownlee and went into ranching for themselves where she took great pride in being the ranch bookkeeper. They retired in 1991 and moved into Thedford. Kathleen loved music and dancing and was active in the Brownlee Women's Club. She majored in English in college, and she never gave up on correcting the family members' grammar. She was an avid reader until her eyesight failed. Her family and grandchildren were the love of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her only sibling Genevieve Pollard, brothers in law and sisters in law, Dale Pollard, Lester Miles, Burton and Eldora Miles Hardy, Jim and Merle Marie Miles Melcher, and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include Marian (Mark) Nutter of Thedford, Colleen Robb of Ashland and Matt (Carmen) Miles of Brownlee, seven grandchildren Tricia Buell, Michelle McIntosh, Mitchell and Joel Robb, Michaela Thomas, Sarah and Kyra Miles and eleven great grandchildren.

The Rosary and visitation were held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Thedford on Friday, December 9, 2022. Funeral Services was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mullen on Saturday, December 10, 2022 with Interment following at Hillcrest Cemetery in Thedford. Memorials are designated to St. Thomas Catholic Church or the donor’s choice.

Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine was entrusted with service arrangements.
