Larry Hutchinson, 91

Larry Hutchinson was born on February 2, 1930 to Eugene and Linnet Gustin Hutchinson at White River, SD. He was raised on a ranch north of White River with his five siblings, along the Little White River.

Larry graduated from White River High School in 1948 and united in marriage to Darlene Green at the United Methodist Church on August 7, 1949. They started their life together on the Hutchinson Ranch where he was raised. They were blessed with five sons who kept them very busy and helped with ranch work.

Larry was active in the Lions Club, served as a South Dakota representative for Outstanding Young Farmers. He served on the White River School Board and was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. He was instrumental in the future development of the rural water system. Besides ranching he also obtained his certification to sell Prudential Insurance for many years. Along with the insurance business he also obtained his realtor license.

Larry was an avid fisherman and at times very serious about his fishing. He made many great memories with his sons and grandsons on their fishing escapades. He was a fan of WRHS athletics and seldom missed a basketball game.

Darlene passed away on May 20, 2011. Larry remained on the ranch until March of 2020 when he moved to Edgewood Senior Living in Pierre, SD. He resided there until his death on September 27, 2021.

Larry is survived by one brother, Roger and wife Betsy, of Divide, CO. There are also five sons: Randy of Cumberland, MD; Barry (Micki) of Dakota Dunes, SD; Bobby (Carol) of White River; Billy (Christine) of White River; Ronald of Valentine. Grandchildren: Bethany Beyer; Ian (Jasmine) Hutchinson, Aaron Hutchinson, Jesse (Quinn) Hutchinson, Brock (Maxine) Hutchinson, Richie (Allison) Hutchinson, Ryan (Patty) Hutchinson, Cole (Jessica) Hutchinson, Kacy (Matt) Gill, Clay Hutchinson, Katie (Jacob) Bonnichsen and Marisa Hutchinson. Greatgrandchildren: Hayley Beyer, Jonathan, Ethan, Aiden, Vanden, Kaitlyn, Ava Hutchinson, Carter Buckmeier, Adam Buckmeier, Harmony, Karis Hutchinson, Elijah Biliu, Ashlyn, Aiden, Connor, Evie, Jace Hutchinson, Coy Gill and Henry Bonnichsen.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife Darlene, his parents, two brothers, Eugene Jr., and Glen, two sisters Mary, and Linda, and daughter-in-law Tony Hutchinson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in White River. Burial followed at the White River Cemetery. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine was in charge of service arrangements.
