Larry Lee Sanger was born September 10, 1939 in Bassett, to Eldon and Kathryn Zerelle (Petersen) Sanger. He passed away July 9, 2023 after a brief stay at the Rock County Long Term Care Center in Bassett.

He attended school in Bassett, graduating from Rock County High School in 1957. The connections he made in high school became treasured friends throughout his entire life. After graduating, he studied Forestry at Wayne State College, followed by a degree from the National School of Aeronautics which led to his career with the old Frontier Airlines starting out in Casper, WY. Larry got drafted into the United States Army in 1963, and then went back to work with Frontier in Billings, MT for 26 years.

He married Jo Ann Eggers in June of 1964, and started a family by adopting a son, Brian, in 1970. His life was filled with a true passion for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and flying. He lived for taking his friends and family camping in the mountains on the weekends, elk camp with lifelong friends every fall, and teaching his son everything he knew about the outdoors. As an accomplished (and lucky) hunter, he took almost every species of North American big game.

After retiring from the airline industry in 1991, he moved back to Nebraska to work in the grocery industry with his brother Bill for several years. Later in life, he became a de-facto father-in-law and grandfather, a role which he treasured.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Zerelle; ex-wife, Jo Ann; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Sanger.

He is survived by his son, Brian Sanger (Margo and Caitlynn Mack) of Valentine; brother, Bill Sanger of Bassett; niece, Vicki (George) Friedrich of Bassett; nephew, Dr. Jeff (Kelly) Sanger of Broken Bow; along with other family members.

Larry chose to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in the place he loved most on this earth to rest in eternity.

Hoch Funeral Home of Bassett was entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hochfuneralhome. com
