Larry Nollette was born on May 7, 1936, in Nenzel. He went to school in Cody-Kilgore and graduated in 1953. Several years later he enlisted in the army and served through 1960.
Larry spent a few years working in construction and then married his bride of 52 years, Virginia Kaslon Gappa. He spent his next 35 years as a loyal and hard-working employee at United Airlines.
His wife, three children, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren were the source of his greatest joy. Although he was soft spoken and not much of a talker, his family and friends felt his abundant love through his handyman and carpentry work. If something needed repair or if you had a home improvement project, Larry had it completed before you even asked for his help. He also brought his own supplies and found whatever else he needed somewhere in your garage or house.
Besides being an avid Husker fan, “Pa” was also the best fan and supporter for all his children and grandchildren. It didn’t matter if there was rain or shine, Pa was there.
You could always count on Larry. He lived a simple, but meaningful life and knew it was more blessed to give than to receive. His quiet, selfless ways will continue to live through us while he watches over us in his folding lawn chair from heaven.
