LaVerne (Vernie) Alvin Reagle, was born in Valentine, on February 20,1945, to Alvin and Velna (Mizner) Reagle and passed away on July 15, 2022, at Parkside Manor in Stuart.
Vernie married Judy (Larsen) and to this union three children were born, Kim, Kelli and Michael.
After graduating from Valentine High School in 1963, Vernie worked with his father at Reagle Feed and Seed and drove truck for many years. He later worked for Bankers Life and Casualty and Farm Bureau selling insurance. Vernie loved baseball and had the opportunity to drive the bus for the Rapid City American Regional Baseball team. After retirement, he drove the school bus in Rapid City, SD, until he was unable to due to Alzheimer’s. Vernie then moved back to Valentine and lived with his daughter Kim until he moved to Parkside Manor.
Vernie was an avid Nebraska football fan and was a member of the Nebraska Beef Club and held season tickets for many years. His other passions were riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, golfing, bowling and playing all types of cards and especially loved getting together with the guys and playing a good old game of gin rummy. Vernie had the gift of gab and never knew a stranger.
Vernie is survived by his three children, Kim (Dan) Epke of Valentine, Kelli (Dan) Springer of Riverside, IA and Michael (Jill) Reagle of Garden City, KS, six grandchildren Danielle (Eric) Wackler, Melinda (Kirk) Schlueter, Kendra (Bryce) Gretten, Katie (Lexi) Springer, Grace Reagle and Kaleb Reagle, seven great grandchildren, (Rylee, Parker and Cameron Wackler, Svea and Kaislee Schlueter, Alarik and Aphaea Gretten), a sister, Arlene (Tim) Murphy of Arizona and a brother, Eldon (Deb) Reagle of Valentine and a host of nieces and one nephew.
Memorial service was held on Wednesday, July 20 at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines at 3:00 p.m. Interment followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was entrusted with service arrangements.
