Major (Retired) Claude L. Reyman, 88

Major (Retired) Claude Lou Reyman was born on October 29, 1934 in Ainsworth, to Bruce Abrah am Rey man Sr. and Edith Mildred (Hutchin son) Reyman. Claude grew up on his parent’s cattle ranch outside of Wood Lake. Claude passed away on November 19, 2022 at age 88 in Lincoln. He was surrounded by his daughter Colonel (Retired) Lynda Marie Granfield and son-in-law Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Christopher Thomas Granfield Claude met Yvonne “Vonnie” Marie Marlatt during high school in Ainsworth, and they were married at the Congregational Church in Ainsworth on July 24, 1960. Claude and Vonnie moved to Lincoln where they lived over 60 years. They had two children, daughter Lynda and adopted son Cory Reyman. When Vonnie passed in May 2021 they had been married almost 61 years.

Claude spent over 36 years in service to our Nation; first starting on Active Duty with the 101st Airborne Division in the 187th Rakkasans Battalion, from 19571959 making ten parachute jumps, and from 1959-1991 he spent over 30 years in the Nebraska Army National Guard and US Army Reserves, retiring as a Major. Claude spent his life as an entrepreneur. He owned several rental homes, a beauty and tailor shop, several small town café and taverns, and an ice-cream truck delivery business in Lincoln. Claude spent over 40 years in Industrial Housekeeping and Maintenance as a Supervisor, writing two books on the topic. Claude was very involved with the Masonic Lodge as well as the Shriner’s

in Lincoln, and the American Legion in Wood Lake. Claude held a Bachelor of Science Degree from Columbia College. He also published the book “Growing up on a Cherry County Cattle Ranch”.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Vonnie; brother- in-law Kenneth Marlatt; dear friends Dean Honnen, Bob Tyler and Ken Osborne; his son Cory and aunts Evelyn Hutchinson Crews and Ruth Hutchinson Stone.

Survivors include his daughter Lynda; son-in-law Chris Granfield; brother Bruce (Deanna) Reyman; sister-in-law Donna L Marlatt; nephew Tim (Kim) Marlatt and nieces Mary Ann Brown, Gina and Dana Reyman. He is also survived by lifelong friends Kathy Tyler, Beth Honnen and Anne Osborne, along with numerous cousins, second cousins and many lifelong military, Mason’s, American Legion, and Shriner friends.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at the Ainsworth United Methodist Church with Pastor Martin Leeper officiating. The Alan Jackson CD Selections played were: “How Great Thou Art,” “Old Rugged Cross’ and “Amazing Grace.” Active Casketbearers were: Chris Granfield, Tim Marlatt, Rick Marlatt, Danny Johnson, Brian Johnson and John Wheeler. Honorary Casketbearers were: Beth Honnen, Kathy Tyler, Anne Osborne, and Donna Lee Marlatt. Masonic Rites were conducted by Silver Cord Lodge #224 AF & AM. Interment was held on the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Wood Lake with Military Honors by Ralph Piper Post #202 of Wood Lake. Memorials were suggested to the Shriner’s Hospital Program in his name.
