Mary Olive Keim was born on October 23, 1936 north of Crookston, in Todd County, South Dakota to Maford H. and Aileen E. ( Malone) Yenglin. She passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the Rock County Hospital Long Term Care Center in Bassett, at the age of 86 years.

Mary was united in marriage to Marvin E. Dorsey on March 14, 1955, and they had two sons, Warren Lee and David Dean. She later married Duane C. Keim on June 24, 1981. They lived in Ainsworth and Bassett most of their married life and celebrated 40 years of marriage before Duane’s passing on January 23, 2022.

Mary was a wife, homemaker, and worked outside the home throughout her life. Her first job was at Home Café in Valentine. She was the receptionist at Sandhills Implement for many years, and eventually retired from the First National Bank in Ainsworth. She was a talented knitter and loved to crochet. Mary will always be remembered for her pumpkin roll, popcorn balls and cinnamon pickles! She delighted in holidays, birthdays, graduations -- any time the family was gathered together. Mary thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as she loved them very much.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Maford and Aileen; sisters, Frieda Kidd and Zelda Moore; and brother, Maford Yenglin.

She is survived by her sons, Warren (Dawn) Dorsey of Ainsworth and David Dorsey of Valentine; stepdaughter, Jo (Jeff) Swanson of Bassett; three grandchildren, Kelli, Miles and Bradee; four step-grandchildren, Chad, Kristen, Amber and Amanda; five great-grandchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-inlaw, Sheila Yenglin of Fort Collins, CO; brother-in-law, Bob (Willa) Keim of Ainsworth; along with nieces, nephews and other family members.

Per Mary’s wishes, no services will be held. A Private Family Inurnment will occur in the Ainsworth Cemetery at a later date. Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth is in charge of the arrangements and condolences may be left for the family at www.hochfunerahome. com.
