Merle Wayne Weihe, 64, of Gordon, passed away peacefully at his home on November 28, 2022.
Merle was born November 23, 1958, in Valentine, to Rudolph and Alice (Hoffman) Weihe. Merle grew up in Kilgore and attended Cody-Kilgore schools, graduating with the class of 1977. He joined the navy, and after boot camp in Great Lakes, he was stationed at Norfolk, Virginia, and served on the aircraft carrier USS America for four years. After moving back to Nebraska, Merle went to work for Shadbolt Cattle Company of Merriman.
Merle met his wife, Kathy, in 1986 and they were married August 19, 1988. They made their home in Merriman until 1990, when they moved to Gordon. Merle went to work for Rex Nelson in February of 1991 and worked there for thirteen years. He then started his own carpenter business. He was very passionate about his work, and always strove to give fair effort for his pay.
Merle was a people person and most people he met became his friend. He would do almost anything for a friend. He loved to spend any spare time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed! Merle was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Harry. Survivors include wife, Kathy of Gordon, daughter, Samantha (Kevin) Luebbert, of Murray, daughter Tina (Diane) Curtis of Sacramento CA, son, David (Jennifer) Ladoucer of North Platte, and daughter, Angela (Quentin) Shadbolt of Merriman; sisters, Lindy Ayers, Cindy Connot, and Ruth Bennett all of Valentine; sister-in-law, Kim Osmera of Big Springs, 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Also our bonus daughter, Tami Goedhart of Idaho.
