Graveside Services for Orma J. (Yocum) Lang, age 94, of Norfolk, will be 12:00 p. m., Saturday, September 30, at the Humboldt City Cemetery in Humboldt. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the Humboldt United Methodist Church, 304 South Nemaha Street. Visitation with family will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday, September 29, at the Westridge United Methodist Church, 2000 W. Norfolk Avenue, in Norfolk. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.

Orma passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 at the Heritage at Fountain Point in Norfolk.

Orma Jane was born in Humboldt, to Charles Washington Yocum and Ina Iva (Colson) Yocum on July 9, 1929. She attended Humboldt public schools and graduated in 1947. Post high school, she worked as a telephone operator and in the office of Lincoln Telephone Company.

She married George E. Lang in Humboldt, on January 6, 1949. The couple had one daughter, Brenda (Lang) Jones. George worked for public power districts, which led them to live in several Nebraska communities, including Tobias, Valentine, and O’Neill. While in O’Neill, Orma worked at Sears for 25 years.

She was active in various community organizations, including Methodist Church groups, Girl Scouts, Eastern Star, and Rebecca Lodge. In retirement, the Langs enjoyed wintering in Apache Junction, AZ, for 21 years. More recently, she lived in Norfolk, and was active at the Norfolk Senior Center.

Orma and George were avid campers and travelers. Orma enjoyed making new friends and playing cards. Her favorite was bridge. She especially loved camping with her grandsons, Eric and Travis. Orma was a lifelong Husker fan and particularly enjoyed the success of the women’s volleyball team.

Orma was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ina Yocum; husband, George Lang; brother Orevill C “AB” Yocum; sister, Lorene Yocum Schultz; and son in law, Larry D. Jones.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Brenda (Lang) Jones; grandchildren, Eric Jones (Gretchen) and Travis Jones (Jeanine); great-grandchildren, Harper Jones, Dominick Harris, Rhyenne Jones, and Tyrus Jones, along with many other relatives and friends.
