Richard D. Reese, 70

Richard Daniel Reese, a cherished resident of Valentine, and beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away in Wicken burg, AZ at his home on May 14, 2023. Born in Valentine on September 22, 1952, Richard spent most of his life in the town he loved, where he made lasting connections and left an indelible mark on the community. Richard’s life was defined by his dedication to his family, his unwavering work ethic, and his passion for giving back to the community through his service with the Valentine Fire Department.

Richard was a proud business owner, operating a successful propane and appliance business in Valentine. His commitment to his work went beyond his own business, as he was also an integral part of the Valentine Volunteer Fire Department for an impressive 45 years. Richard’s invaluable contribution to the safety and well-being of the community will be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him. Despite the demands of his career and volunteer work, Richard always made time for his loved ones, cherishing every moment spent with his family. He enjoyed tinkering at the ranch, playing golf, riding his Harley, fishing, and retirement with Kathleen and friends in Wickenburg, AZ.

Richard is survived by his loving life partner of 14 years, Kathleen Hines; his son Eric Reese; his daughter Ruth Tinant; her husband Wade Tinant; his granddaughter Charlee Tinant. Also, Richard was previously married to Terri Fisher Shelbourn, mother of Eric and Ruth and then married to Kay Ohlmann Reese.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Joanne Lovejoy Reese his brother Chester Reese. Richard’s spirit lives on through the love and memories shared by his family and friends. His legacy of kindness, generosity, humor and devotion to his community will serve as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
