Robert [Bob] R. Schleve of Mobile, Alabama passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 after an extended illness that he had fought bravely for many years. Cremation has taken place as per his request. A memorial service for Bob Schleve and Glenn Schleve will be held at Simeon Cemetery south of Valentine, on July 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

Bob was born to Carl and Rossa (Stilwell) Schleve on November 26,1931 and would be their second child after Colleen [Sis]. He then became the oldest boy of their eight sons.

Bob was working for the Republican Newspaper in Valentine and was in the building when it collapsed in 1950. Shortly after he graduated from high school, he would join the Navy on February 6, 1951 and served honorably for four years. He was discharged in San Diego in February 6, 1955, and this military experience would set the direction of two of his brothers that would follow him into the service. Glenn and Gerry would both join the Army to serve their country proudly.

Bob would start his new career expanding from California to Florida and finally ending up in Louisiana. These different careers would extend from the oil field, running a motel, painting crew, printing company, Freeport long shoreman, Studebaker Mfg., boat builder and many others.

He would retire as a foreman from a ship unloading company located in Baton Rouge, LA and later moved to Mobile, AL where he would make his home until his death.

Survivors include his former wife Bernice [Bea] Schleve of Houston, TX, his former wife, Yvonne Conrad Lanier of Denham Springs, LA, and his grandson Jason LaBlanc of Mobile, his granddaughter Michelle Lee Schleve of Baton Rouge, LA, brother, David and Mardelle Schleve of Gering, sister-in-laws: Gail Schleve of Morrill, Kay Schleve of Valentine, and numerous nieces and nephews plus great nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Rossa Schleve Gillaspie; wives, Dorothy May, Evalean Bosarge; children, Allen Ray, Royd Lee [Bo], and Doanie Borage, siblings, Forest, Carl, and Clayton Schleve, Colleen and Harlan Knudsen, Bruce, Gerry, and Glenn Schleve.
