Sena Mae (Johnson) Richard was born in Rosebud, SD on October 30, 1980 to Connie Cox and Ray Johnson.
She married the love of her life, Michael Richard, on February 29, 2012. Sadly, on August 30, 2015, Michael passed away before they had the chance to celebrate their ‘first’ anniversary. Prior to marriage, Sena had five children: Obsidian, Shawn, Katie, Akosha and Isaac.
In 2018, Sena began to get sick, spending her final years in and out of hospitals fighting her struggle and her doctors. Though her battle was hard, she still continued to live her life the way she wanted. In the early morning hours of December 30, 2023, Sena was welcomed to the spirit world by her beloved husband and other loved ones.
Sena is survived by her five children: Obsidian Johnson, Shawn Ward, Katie Ward, Akosha Ward and Isaac Robinson; five grandchildren: James, Phoenix, Luka, Amilia and Peyton; mother and fatherin- law Connie (Willcuts) and Ray Dean Cox; father Ray Johnson; and three siblings: Mardeena Willcuts, Winnie (Anthony) Shipley, and Hart (Bobbi) Johnson; and many children she helped raise.
She was greeted in death by her husband Michael Richard; grandparents Joe and Katherine Willcuts, and Auntie Joanne Dawson Colombe.
Services were held at Holmes Funeral Home in Valentine on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Little Soldier Cemetery in Old Ring Thunder, SD.
