Todd Martin ‘Marty’ Jordan was born July 5, 1971 to Willis Terry ‘Todd’ and Linda Jordan. He was the first of two boys with a younger brother John Michael ‘Mike’ Jordan. Marty attended Valentine Community Schools where he excelled with athletics, academics and socially. Marty had many lifelong friends from his youth. After graduating high school, he attended Colby College to play golf and spent time in Phoenix, AZ and Holdrege, but returned to Valentine to help care for his mother and help run their family restaurant.
Marty married Angela in July of 1997, and together they raised their beautiful family; son Rece Jordan and daughters Sophia and Jocelyn Jordan. Marty took great pride in his family and in owning Jordan’s Fine Dining and Sports Bar that he ran with his brother Mike. Those years running the bar were some of the best years and experiences of his life. He felt a sense of achievement in having a place where the ‘beautiful people could go to get ugly’. A place a family could bring their children to play in the beer garden, where he met new people, taught his children hard work, social skills and how to be part of a community. When Jordan’s sold in 2013, he spent time working at Tehrani’s, Sysco, Pepsi Co., and Cody Foster Company, but there was no work that he could find that filled him with purpose and pride like his business did.
Marty loved all sports, golfing, bowling, and playing softball. He was a forever Cubs and Husker fan. Many remember Marty’s famous one-liners, nicknames, and sense of humor.
He loved the cabin by Merritt, good food and beer, hosting gatherings at his home, telling stories and laughing and loved spending time with his children. Most importantly, Marty cherished his family above everything. His legacy is his children - he taught them how to shake hands, talk to people and look them in the eye, how to cook, lessons in golf, a love of good food, and so much more.
