John was born November 13, 1934, in Johnson City, NY, to Dr. Everett and Virginia (Pegg) Black. His family lived in the Binghamton Johnson City area until 1939, and then moved to Fredonia, NY, where John’s dad began his medical practice. This was interrupted in 1941 when John’s dad volunteered for the draft and began his service in the U.S. Army. During the first years of service the family lived in numerous places until 1943 when his dad went overseas to serve in Europe, and John, his mother and sister moved to Erie, PA, to live with John’s grandmother and aunt.

Norma Lee (Brown) Stoeger was born in Newport, Nebraska on April 9, 1938, to Jim and Lena Brown. She grew up a typical farm girl and learned to have a work ethic from a young age. She took care of the housework, the neighborhood children, and helped her dad and siblings with the farm chores.

Mary Carolyn Schott, a longtime resident of Alliance, NE, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the age of 89 at Highland Park Care Center. Mary was born on October 27, 1936, on the Tate Ranch in Cherry County, NE, a ranch homesteaded by her family.

John Earl Hamilton, age 76, of Thedford, NE, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, in Callaway, NE, after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.

Myrtle (Doering/Dunse) Collins, 96 years of age, passed away August 27, 2026 at Sandhills Care Center in Ainsworth, NE. Myrtle was born February 9, 1930 to Howard and Amy (Casey) Doering of rural LaValle, WI.

Timothy G. Daugherty, 67 of Kearney, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 28, 2026 at Kearney Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2026 at O’Brien Straat-mann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.

Kathleen Belle Kerr Brown was born March 25, 1950, to William and Mary Kerr at the Sandhills General Hospital in Valentine, NE. She was later joined by one sibling, Peggy. She grew up in the country and attended Valentine High School. After graduating, she worked at the Cherry County Clerk’s Office until she joined the Bank of Valentine as a proof entry operator.

Kurt Athony Sinkler 12/21/1968-08/03/2026 Kurt Sinkler was born in Lincoln, NE at Bryan Memorial Hospital on December 21,1968. He passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of 57 at his home in Kilgore; a memorial will be held on Saturday August 15,2026 @ 1:00 p.m., at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines. The burial will take place at a later date at his home in Kilgore, NE.
