There is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise! Valentine Police Officer Jasmine Hoefs has returned to duty following an on-duty accident that occurred in December 2022. The accident resulted in critical injuries requiring a lengthy recovery period.

For 44 years, the Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) has celebrated over 2,500 of Nebraska’s most caring and devoted health care employees by presenting them with The Caring Kind Award. NHA member hospitals, such as Cherry County Hospital, select recipients from within their organization to be acknowledged at The Caring Kind Awards Luncheon during the NHA Annual Convention.

Melvin Nenneman knows birds. As wildlife biologist for the 71,516 acre Valentine National Wildlife Refuge the past 21 years, he’s become familiar with flying creatures that range in size from the huge pelicans cruising the shallow lakes to minute grasshopper sparrows flittering about the rolling, grass-covered dunes.

The 8th annual Valentine’s Heart of Christmas Celebration was held November 25, 2023 on Small Business Saturday. Main Street was busy for the downtown merchants during shopping hours, and at 6:00 p.m., was festive as the parade began.

Kevin and Heidi Cheng will be performing a Christmas concert Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at the Valentine High School auditorium. This event is free to the public. A free-will donation will be taken at the door.
