    Niobrara Valley Vineyards donates to Sandhills Cancer Fund

    A Nenzel celebration was held on July 26, at Niobrara Valley Vineyards at Nenzel, NE. The day started with a 5K run that Reed Ford organized, with the proceeds going to the Sandhills Cancer Fund. There were other activities throughout the day with St. Mary’s Luck of the Draw, Country Store and BBQ, K of C Cowboy Pasture Golf followed by a dance that night with Country Rush.

    MNNRD Board approves new facility and discusses LB 158 hearing

    The Niobrara River Basin Alliance met Thursday, August 21, 2025 at the Middle Niobrara NRD office. The following were in attendance: Pat O’Brien, Upper Niobrara White NRD General Manager; Mike Murphy, Middle Niobrara NRD General Manager; Wade Ellwange, Lower Niobrara NRD General Manager; Karl Connell, Lower Niobrara NRD Board of Director and Niobrara Council Board Member; Dennis Schueth, Upper Elkhorn NRD General Manager; Kyle Temple, Middle Niobrara NRD Water Resources Coordinator.

    Cowboy Church offering benefits CCH diabetes program

    The offering’s received at Cowboy Church during the Cherry County Fair have been donated to the Cherry County Hospital to help fund their diabetes program; $1,100 was raised, with an additional check of $100 being dropped off after the event.

    Sand Painters Art Club hosts successful Open Art Show

    The Sand Painters Art Club recently hosted a captivating Open Art Show at the Cherry County Fair in Valentine, NE. The event drew a crowd of art enthusiasts eager to appreciate the diverse talent on display. This year's show featured 55 pieces of art from 21 different artists, showcasing a wide range of styles and mediums. The judging for the show was expertly handled by Valentine HighSchoolart teacher, Victoria Schwab, who faced the difficult task of selecting winners from the impressive collection.

    Ribbon Cutting held for new Cody-Kilgore School

    Cody-Kilgore Board Members Bethany Swendener and Tim Nollette, both C-K alum, cut the ribbon to inaugurate the new combined Cody-Kilgore School during the Back-to-School Picnic and Open House on August 14, 2025. Nollette shares the project was five years in the making, and couldn’t have been done without the hard work and sacrifice of the GRIT committee and the entire community. The school sports state-of-the art technology tools, a redesigned lunchroom and is completing a new playground funded with community donations.
