    The Badgers did exceedingly well at the Sandhills Invite, held April 8, 2025, at Rock County High School. The boys and girls teams each earned first place.

    Badgers earn many awards at State FFA

    The Valentine Badgers traveled to Lincoln the first week in April to attend State FFA. Team and individual awards are as follows: State Degree recipients - Kennedie Assman, John Fulton, Jenalee Garwood, Emma Kreutner, Doc Lancaster, Kimber McGinley, Quinton Nelson, Rylie Sexson, Cadence Swanson, Thane Taylor.

    “We haven’t done a play in two or three years,” said Director John Hanzlicek of the Valentine Players. “The synoposis of the play is Sarah Sweetflower comes back to Elbow’s Bend to open a bridal shop, after the notification of the death of her Uncle Tumleweed. Upon her arrival, she is met by Sly Scavenger and his accomplice, Miss Twinkle toes. Those two try and swindle Sarah Sweetflower once they find out about a possible gold mine.”

    City Council hires Bobbi Johnson as city clerk

    Cherry County resident Bobbi Johnson has been appointed as the new City Clerk after serving seven years as an administrative assistant for the local police department. A Navy war veteran, Johnson brings valuable public service experience to her new role.

    Rotary Interact Club Donates to Sandhills Cancer Fund

    Generosity and community spirit took center stage at a recent Valentine Rotary Club meeting, where members of the Interact Club and Sandhills Cancer Fund’s treasurer, Kasey Dawson, were welcomed as guests. The Interact Club, a youth-led community service organization, presented a $732 donation to the Sandhills Cancer Fund. The funds were raised through the club’s previous successful Color Runs, dues, and public donations accumulated over the past few years.
