    Lt. Slama celebrates 20 years with VPD

    On January 5, 2024, the Valentine Police Department recognized Lt. Jamon Slama for 20 years of service with the Police Department. Lt. Slama began his law enforcement career with the Sidney Police Department. On January 5, 2004, he started his service with the City of Valentine’s Police Department.

    Friends of the Library Puzzle Tournament results

    Does the thought of putting a jigsaw puzzle together remind you of a cold, snowy day? A time to slow down and enjoy using a part of your brain that may not normally be exercised? This wasn’t it. It was a fast paced event that ultimately declared Andy Krueger and Marcus Little as winners in the inaugural Friends of the Library jigsaw puzzle tournament.

    Hedda Matheson wins the Valentine’s Day Card winner

    The Chamber of Commerce holds their annual Valentine’s Day Card Contest at the end of 2023. Everyone was invited to draw, sketch, or pen and ink the annual greeting that will be shared with many over Valentine’s Day, February 14. This year, Hedda Matheson was the winner with the above pen and ink letting you know your heart has a friend. She also was the recipient of the $250 prize.

    Badgers place seventh at Chadron Duals

    The Valentine Badgers traveled to Chadron for wrestling duals January 19-20, 2024 and earned seventh place in duals, and in the tournament. Individual results are as follows: Match #1 Round 1 Mead defeated Valentine 44-28 106 - Trey Tatham of Mead, over Deklin Titus of Valentine, Dec 6-5.

    The Investiture of Michaela Hobbs

    The occasion was a celebration as Michaela Hobbs was officially sworn in as Clerk Magistrate, Cherry County court, Eighth Judicial District, Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The Honorable James J. Orr was the officiant on this very chilly, windy, day. Due to the weather conditions, several court officials were unable to attend in person, but did by a first ever Investiture service via Zoom.
