    Valentine Parks and Recreation Master Plan Public Meeting

    Valentine – A Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan will help decision-makers enhance the quality of life in Valentine and the surrounding communities, and to stimulate economic activity by providing safe, well-maintained parks, natural areas, recreational waterways, trails and facilities designed to meet the physical, cultural, and social needs of both residents and visitors.

    There are many who are completely OVER winter! This last storm, February 22-23, was not exactly welcomed - luckily, it didn’t pan out as it had been forecasted with a high end of 18 inches. Instead, over the two day period, a total of 5.5 inches - according to NOAA Weather - fell at Valentine’s Miller Field. Temperatures plummeted into the negative with a high of 7 on Wednesday, February 22, and an overnight low of -14 Thursday, February 23. Winds gusted up to 40 mph creating sculptural drifts and dangerous wind chill temperature values which reached -34 in the early morning hours of Thursday with winds at 20 mph.

    Congratulations Badger wrestlers at NSAA State competition!

    The Valentine Badger’s Boys and Girls wrestling teams attended NSAA State Wrestling over this past weekend. The Class C team placed eighth with 64 points out of a field of 55 teams. Broken Bow placed first with 119; Bishop Neumann, 97; Fillmore Central, 96; Pierce, 78.5; Battle Creek, 75; Boone Central, 66; Wilber-Clatonia, 65.5; Valentine, 64; Crofton/Bloomfield, 59; Ord, 55.

    Naslund competes at State 4-H Archery Championship

    The Nebraska State 4-H Indoor Archery Championship was held January 28, 2023 in Columbus. Dylan Naslund of Cody, placed fourth in the Young Adult Bowhunter Free Style division for targets. He also competed in the Platte Valley Archers 3-D meet that weekend, held in conjunction with the State 4-H meet. Dylan is the son of Adam and Janell Naslund.

    Cox to participate in 4-H Fashion Week at Omaha

    Lincoln, Neb., Feb. 15, 2023 —Nebraska 4-H members from across the state will showcase their designs during the 15th annual Omaha Fashion Week runway showcase.

    Cody-Kilgore Cowgirls end season with 5-15 record

    The Cowgirl’s season came to an end last week after they lost to Hay Springs in the first round of sub districts. Scoring by quarters: Cody-Kilgore - 4, 5, 11, 8 = 28 Hay Springs - 20, 14, 14, 9 = 57 Aubree Johnson was lead scorer with 10, followed by Aiden Hand with 6, Mikah Vander Wey with 3, Kate Cox, Sadee Adamson, Kassidy Roseberry, and Rachel Farley each with 2, and Kayleigh Ravenscroft with 1.
