Let’s meet the local Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame 2023 inductees

The 2023 inductees of the Nebraska Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame will take place Friday, June 10, 2023, at the Cherry County Fairgrounds. The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. for a social hour, and a benefit auction will take place at 5:00 p.m., with the banquet beginning at 6:00 p.m. The actual induction ceremony will take place at 7:00 p.m.
Fourth quarter Badger Effort Award

The Badger Effort Award is based on the school's character education. Students who demonstrate Character In Action (CIA), responsibility, accountability, honesty, empathy, and respect were nominated by their classroom teachers and staff. Congratulations to the Valentine Middle School fourth auarter Badger Effort recipients!
Kids fishing clinic held

A kids fishing clinic was held May 6, 2023, at the Valentine Fish Hatchery, through the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Zac Brashears and Stephen Isom helped organize the event.
Eyes, mind, hands, heart, impetus to create through VCS art teacher Joan Swim

“I am so honored to have a spot in the Nebraska Department of Education Fine Arts Education EXPRESSIONS spring newsletter,” said art teacher Joan Swim. The spring newsletter shared the following: When you meet Joan Swim from Valentine Community Schools, you can just feel her energy, enthusiasm, and passion.
The sculpture walk on Valentine’s Main Street

There are three sculptures that are gracing Valentine’s Main Street with a fourth to come. Placed to spark conversation, the sculptures will be on display through this autumn, possibly spring of 2024.
Cherry County Hospital Foundation donates to Cherry County Clinic for exam tables

Cherry County Hospital Foundation Board Members President Lacey Joseph, Treasurer S. Rourke Springer, Lew and Joan Johnson, Talia Benson, Steve Brown, and Steve Isom presented a check for $95,598.45 to Cherry County Clinic for the new adjustable exam tables for their exam rooms.
