    Meet and Greet held to discuss upcoming summer season and possible challenges

    Emergency Manager Matt Sandoz hosted a Meet and Greet for emergency responders, Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the Valentine Fire Hall. The meeting was held to identify all available resources to meet the challenges that this summer can bring. There was discussion on radio communications, towers available and frequencies used.

    More rainfall - thank you!

    The rain fell so hard, it was difficult to see for a while - even while wipers were going full blast. The rain fell so hard the drops are pounding into the puddles at the side of the road, Saturday, May 7, 2022. There were a few hail stones that fell as well. A total of .63 inches of rain fell according to NOAA Weather. Winds gusted as high as 56 mph with a high temperature of 88 degrees.

    Governor proclaims May is Beef Month!

    LINCOLN – Monday, May 2, 2022, Governor Pete Ricketts proclaimed May as “Beef Month” in Nebraska during a ceremony at the State Capitol. He was joined by Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) Director Steve Wellman, Nebraska Beef Council Chairman George Cooksley, and Nebraska Cattlemen President Brenda Masek. At the news conference, Gov. Ricketts encouraged Nebraskans to take part in the 2022 Good Life Great Steaks Beef Passport program organized by the Nebraska Beef Council.

    Two VHS teams competed in the Nebraska Personal Finance Challenge

    On Friday, April 29, 2022, eight students from VHS traveled to UNK to compete at the regional Nebraska Personal Finance Challenge. Two teams of VHS students earned a spot at the western regionals. Nicole Williams, Mataya Morrison, Jack Lancaster, and Gunnar Battershaw placed first at regionals and third in the state.

    Badgers take ninth at O’Neill Invite

    The Valentine Badgers Golf Team traveled to the O’Neill Invitational Thursday, April 21, 2022 and placed ninth out of 16 teams. Individually: Brayden Grubham shot 100; Logan Muirhead and Sean Springer each shot 101; and Ben Butcher shot 126 for a total score of 428..
