For more than 30 years, Dana Anderson has been employed at Valentine Midland News and Printing. She will undertake something brand new with the ownership of Midland Printing, LLC.

The Valentine boys basketball team started off the 24/25 year in dramatic fashion. With a heartbreaking loss to the O’Neill Eagles on December 5, 49-50. The game was a back-and-forth battle, coming down to the last possession, with O’Neill’s, Alder hitting a buzzer beater giving them the one-point advantage. Isaac Cronin led the way for Valentine with a double-double: 21 points and 12 rebounds.

When the weather dips below freezing in Valentine, most of the city’s residents do their best to stay indoors as much as possible. However, during the last several years, local community members and organizations have volunteered to stand outside, braving biting winds and bone-chilling temperatures to ring bells asking for donations. Since the Salvation Army first began collecting donations in their signature red kettles in the late 1800s, the organization has relied on volunteers to do the bulk of its bell ringing.

“All I want for Christmas is a bigger yard, more room, a large basement, and for the kids to each have their own room...” Well, Santa could deliver this for you. In fact, you even have a choice! Valentine Economic Development along with the City of Valentine has two homes that are completely built at 115 and 117 North Edna Street, and one in the process of being built on Ray Street.

City Manager Shane Siewert said, “I am pleased to announce that Lieutenant Jamon Slama with the Valentine Police Department has been promoted to serve as Valentine’s Chief of Police. “Chief Slama has been a dedicated member of our law enforcement team for over 20 years and has helped manage the department as the Lieutenant for 17 years.
