Pagers were going off Friday, September 20, 2024, at 4:40 p.m. The Valentine Fire Department responded to a grass fire east of town, and were on scene for 1.5 hours. Their expedient response resulted in only five acres of burned ground. The fire started buy a piece of construction equipment.

The Sandhills Area Foundation is pleased to announce a significant donation of nearly $500,000 from the estate of the late Michael Davenport. This generous contribution will primarily be allocated as endowed funds.
