    Weather cooperates for track athletes - finally

    The Badgers traveled to North Central, Monday, April 8, 2024 and competed in the Sandhills Invite. Due to weather conditions, track has been called off several times - this is the first time the athletes were able to compete.

    A day truly Out of this World as the temperatures rose to a record high of 91 degrees, Saturday, April 13, 2024. It broke the old record of 89 degrees set in 1908.

    VHS Boys Golf earns first place

    The VHS Boys Golf Team competed Thursday, April 4, at a rescheduled triangular meet held in Ainsworth, along with North Central. The VHS Boys placed first.

    Construction planned to begin on Highway 97 by Merritt Reservoir

    April 11, 2024 Ainsworth — Weather permitting, work was to begin Monday, April 15, on Nebraska Highway N-97, from reference post 110.35 to reference post 115.40. This project will improve approximately five miles of highway N-97 around Merritt Reservoir, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Werner Construction of Hastings is the prime contractor for this project.

    Feather tying ceremony held for graduating students

    Valentine Community Schools helped celebrate Native American students who were graduating. There were two seniors, Ariana Blume and Daniel Witt who were graduating from high school and 10 students who were “graduating” from eighth grade on to high school and included: Kyla Clark, Brooklyn Coyle, Dante Davis, MelodyDavis,ToddDillon,William Garneaux, Montana Kleinjan, Ellison LaDeaux, Anithia Red Bird, and Lilybet Rolfe.
