    New updates to Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine

    Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine was established in 1902 after the closure of what has been referred to as Boot Hill Cemetery on the west edge of Valentine, by obtaining new land southeast of town. The cemetery has added additional land several times.

    Local runners place in North Platte race

    Two Valentine residents laced up their running shoes for the 9th annual Light Up the Night 5k. The charity event, benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation in North Platte, was hosted by kids from the North Platte Student Council and the Platte River Fitness community. The 3.1 mile race took place in Cody Park in the evening hours of Saturday, April 6. The course consisted of three laps around the park, which is home to a collection of animals.

    The Valentine Book Club, in conjunction with Nebraska Humanities, and the Valentine Library are pleased to bring you speakers Charlotte and Kevin Endorf who will share Grace Snyder’s story. She was a pioneer woman who lived in a sod house when her family homesteaded in 1885 to Custer County.

    Happy Easter

    Cody held an Easter Egg hunt at Cody Park, Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with many in attendance. Among the 1,500 eggs were three GOLDEN ones that were for bikes donated by Security First Bank.
